Brayton College Selby
New to Brayton College’s after school club curriculum, during the summer term of 2008, was the martial art of Tae Kwon Do. This was delivered in six 1 hour after-school sessions to a mixed age range of students. All students who took part received a certificate and medal at the end of the 6 weeks and the sessions were a real success and enjoyed by all who took part.
On the back of this success, a 2 hour Tae Kwon Do session was delivered to Brayton College’s Summer University students in the sixth week of the summer holidays. These gifted and talented students had the opportunity to try and experience a range of new activities throughout their Summer University week, of which this Tae Kwon Do session was one. All the students said they enjoyed the experience.
Tae Kwon Do is now being offered to Brayton College’s Year 11 students as an option which they can choose when selecting their PE module options throughout their final year. If chosen by a student, this option will run for 6 weeks in one hour sessions.
Owing to popular demand, another block of after school Tae Kwon Do sessions will be offered at Brayton College early in 2009.
